E-mail the House Rules Committee and Representative Tillery
Little attention was given to meaningful gun violence legislation in the 2025 Georgia legislative session. There is less than a month for the legislature to make progress. We need your help to urge the House Rules Committee to stop SB204 and to urge the Senator Tillery, Chair of the Appropriations Committee, to include funding in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget for a safe storage educational campaign. This past week, House Judiciary Committee inserted the language of SB 163 into SB 204, an unrelated bill dealing with district attorneys, and it passed out of committee. If you recall, SB163 was Sen. Colton Moore's bill to punish Savannah for passing a vehicular safe storage law more restrictive than state law (preemption). This amendment would increase the preemption fine from $500 to $25,000. This amendment subverted the public comment process and unnecessarily punishes local jurisdictions and taxpayers. Use the forms on this page to send an email to the House Leadership and Rules Committee and Representative Tillery. Your voice matters!
